Summary
The Northland School Division put the spirit of giving into action during the holiday season. In Anzac, students and staff from Bill Woodward and Anzac schools collected a record-setting 1,268 items for the food bank. They also accepted a donation of $5,000 from the Fort McMurray First Nation. The monies were used to purchase food from Anzac Grocery for the food bank.
Also helping out a food bank was the central office staff who raised $450. The money was used to purchase groceries for the Salvation Army Food Bank in Peace River. Some staff also donated non-perishable food items.
At the central office, staff, colleagues from Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada, and the Red Hats Society of Peace River collected purses for a project sponsored by Three Chicks Who Give a Cluck. More than 100 purses containing personal care items were collected and donated to Bissell Centre in Edmonton.
