Marion Crowe, the CEO of the First Nations Health Managers Association, said suppliers have been mailing First Nations personal protective equipment without their asking for it and then billing them for the unwanted supplies.

“Shame on you,” said Crowe during a livestream today about the COVID-19 crisis.

“The moccasin telegraph is fierce and it is on fire,” Crowe said of communities’ response to the unscrupulous practise.

She said Nations should be aware of the scammers, especially when personal protective equipment is in such high demand.

“And for suppliers who don’t have the integrity… We’re on alert,” adding the suppliers’ names and information have been sent to authorities who need to know about it.

“It’s shameless is what it is.”
