Richard Van Camp with Moccasin Square Gardens

Moccasin Square Gardens by storyteller and bestselling author Richard Van Camp has won the 2020 Alberta Literary Awards’ Georges Bugnet Award for Fiction.

Moccasin Square Gardens is a set of stories described as “his boldest, most compelling collection yet.” The stories are fun and accessible on the surface, yet deeply layered and complex in their aesthetic structure, reads a quote from the awards’ jury.

“This collection is enthralling, exciting, and wholly original – this is a vital book.”

Van Camp is a master at equally balancing the comic, the tragic, the speculative, the fantastic and the real, the statement continues.

Richard Van Camp is an internationally renowned and award-winning author. He was born in Fort Smith, Northwest Territories, and is a member of the Dogrib Dene Nation.
