BREAKING: Indigenous and Northern Affairs split into two departments

Indigenous and Northern Affairs has been split into two departments.

An Indigenous Affairs department will focus on Canada’s relationship with Indigenous peoples led by Carolyn Bennett, minister of the new Crown Indigenous Relations department and Minister of Northern Affairs.

A second department will provide services for non-self-governing nations. It will be called Indigenous Services. Jane Philpott, former minister of health, will become the minister of this new department.
