Competitive swimmer Jasḵwaan, Amanda Bedard, who competed in the European Masters Games in Tampere, Finland from July 7 to July 9, has earned a gold medal in the 200 m breaststroke.
She also took fourth in three categories— the 50 m breaststroke, 100 m breaststroke and 200 m individual medley. Jasḵwaan also came in seventh in the 100 m freelance.
Jasḵwaan represented the Haida Nation on the world stage. She trained for the competition without access to a swimming pool in the northern island community off the west coast of mainland British Columbia.
